What is the best bang for your buck in the range finder world?

Thinking about asking for one for Christmas. TIA.

Love my Nikon. I think it is a 1200s model

I have a Nikon and it's great and all... unless you're hunting in the fog, then it's useless

There is a wide range of Nikon's. What am I missing out on if I get the low end model?

If you bowhunt, make sure to get the angle compensator

Besides that, maybe they have a model that works in the fog?

The more expensive ones give you a stronger laser. Lets you measure things farther away on less reflective surfaces. The cheap "500-600" yard models will have a difficult time at yardages past 250-300 yards unless you are shooting a reflective hard surface. I've measured out to 400 yards on a human sized target before with my cheap Hal XRT6 I got a Academy for $80ish.
