My old mower crapped out on me. Going with a ztr this time around. I'm really leaning towards the Dixie chopper. Wondering if yall had any opinions on them.

My neighbor has a zee2, and it is bad mofo in 54" cut. Kawasaki engine I think, it's pretty nice.

We had one for our landscaping company, they do not hold up worth a shite. That was hard use though. They'd probably be fine for residential.

Call them aluminum can with blades. Would go with hustler, scag, gravely, or exmark before one of those. I have four ztrs and never even considered a chopper.

Skag is best the make.
Ex mark, toro, and hustler are all decent.

Scag. But Gravely makes an HD model that combines residential and commercial aspects that has me pretty impressed thus far.

They go fast but do not cut well. Scag and Exmark are my favs.

A good way to sort these things out is compile a list of mowers with their cut width and engine horsepower.
Take the cut width and divide it by the horsepower of the engine.
This will give you a very good comparison point. (Hustler came out on top when I did this)
It's been seven years since I researched it in depth, but I seem to recall that Dixie was overpriced.

If you plan on entering a lawnmower race on pavement, the chopper is the one to own.

I have a Dixie chopper and it has worked well for me. At the house I have 2.5 acers and cut 1.5. Also cut another 1/2 acer at my business. I put a new set of blades on twice a year and sharpen as needed. Cuts great. Starts every time and has never given me any trouble. I bought it because a guy that owns a Dixie dealer does a lot of business with us and he runs a good shop. (Paige lawnmower) That is all I have for you. I have never used any other brand so I have nothing to compare it to. Mine is eight years and is going strong. Good luck.
