Our camp is mostly a place to go drink whiskey and kick some logs in a fire. We've had this kind of weekend twice in about 10 years.

We zeroed twice this weekend

Kinda strange weekend as the weather was great for ducks and we have been killing ~5 per hunt all season.

Nice haul, I hunted Friday am and again this am.

Firday I had really good numbers of ducks coming in but I couldent hit the side of a barn for some reason.

Changed out my choke from IC to M and this morning bagged 4. 2 widgeon, and 2 wooodies.

I used a Bass Pro Shop gift card to by a box of those high velocity Remington shells - 1700fps, 3", #4 and felt like the angel of death...I decapitated two fat mallards in mid-air and not one cripple to chase down. I wish they didn't cost damn near a buck a shell.

Friday morning we pass shot woodies and got a bonus blue wing teal and I would have been happy to leave the camp after that. Then saturday morning we got the deeks set when it was still dark (no moon that morning) and the mallards were landing on top of us before shooting time. The action was non-stop and one bunch wanted in even after I blew a sour note on my call. Sunday morning the weather was moving in and the mallards were later then saturday but we still scratched out a few.
