just outside the pass. one of them even said "man, my buddy told me just to follow the coast and i'll be fine". well he wasn't fine and he had some serious damage to his hull after finding the reef at 30mph then trying for 20 minutes to slam the throttle and get out. the ignorance of people is always amusing. He's lucky we were there, if it wouldnt have been for us he would have been stuck there until at least 8 pm yesterday. idiots.

i guess i can give a fishing report. fished sat and sunday both on outgoing tides. both days was pretty much perfect conditions but we still struggled. we fished along the reefs both in the pass and around diamond reef. caught more reds than anything. specs were no where to be seen. i have to imagine the basin is throwing way too much fresh water down that way. usually this time of year its pretty good fishing. i think next week we will go out a little further and try our luck

no pics. he was in a newish blazer bay with 3 yetis including stickers and his wife (be glad i dont have pics of her) was freaking the frick out, i felt really bad for her. she got thrown to the front of the boat. i would not recommend anyone fish there unless you know exactly where the reefs are.

Don't fish that area anymore for obvious reasons, but back in the day more people got stuck in the cattle guard just west of the Pass around buoy #2.

They would luck out, line up right going in on a high tide, then stuck in the middle when the tide went out.

GOTTA be careful around those reefs, especially in the pass itself

Not surprising about the specks. Salinity has been falling in Vermilion Bay for at least a week. It's too low now for specks. Have to wait a few more weeks for it to come back up.
