26 degrees he's never hunted anything this cold. 5 year old lab. I have a 3m dog vest for him. Any concerns it's too cold? Tia

Don't worry about the dog. You'll be ready to go home long before him.

Those sumbitches are tough. I just went out to my barn to crack a faucet for the night. My heeler proceeded to roll around under it in the mud. It's 31 here now.

Like my dairy farmer cousin said, while we were listening to the "bring your pets inside tonight" announcement once. "I've walked outside when it was 8 degrees and ice everywhere. Cows were doing cow shite. Horses doing horse shite. Dogs doing dog shite. They don't know it's cold."

I'm hunting mine with a vest for the first time this year tomorrow morning. The dog will be fine. I've hunted mine on a four hour hunt where there was literally ice hanging from her ears. Her fur froze. It wasn't comfortable, but she was fine.

Just think of all the dogs north of here that hunt in temos way lower than this regularly. Same dogs.

My canadian friends cougar dogs stay outside there year round. When he goes to feed them, they start popping out of the snow.

If I had a lap dog, I might take extra precautions, but nit any working breed.

Get a chessie and don't worry about it. This was my dog hunting Canarvon this am. Good thing the diversion was running wide open or we probably wouldn't have had water.

My dog has been outside in his run since I left for work at 7 this morning. I really don't care how cold he is

My old man had a big yellow lab that was a pretty good duck dog. He never came inside. Mom convinced dad that he needed to be inside one night because the news lady said dogs would freeze to death outside or some shite like that. Next morning dad went to let him out and mom said no because it's too cold. It was about 20 or so. Dad let him out anyway. Dog took off across the yard and dock dogged into the pond and started swimming around. Dad turned around and said "yea look at him he's freezing to death." I'll never forget that.

Keep your dogs outside all day every day. Bringing them inside isn't doing them any favors.

I bring mine in at night because he is my buddy and I like his company, but no way he's staying inside unsupervised while I'm gone during the day.
