Can't get into cow island, too much for Oakridge. What gives? Where should I go relatively close to Lafayette?

Nowhere today

The water in Henderson was starting to get right. Now we'll probably have to wait another 2 weeks.

Yeah, it is terrible out there right now. Was thinking about little Alabama assuming I get my trolling motor installed by Friday, but that is a little far for a half day.

Little Alabama is probably small enough to fish (at least a good bit of it) in a half day. There's always Lake Martin if you wanna fight the grass. Other than that, I got nothing.

I may look at big Alabama because it is closer to I-10. I don't want to drive to Opelousas then East.

Gonna go to the south launch I assume? From everything I've heard, the south end is better anyway. I'll be curious to see your results.

Yes. It depends whether or not I can get this trolling motor finished up. I want to try to go Friday.

My brother just passed over Henderson and said the water was decent. He could see dirt on the islands. Do you think it will be ok Friday morning? I am not sure I want to pull my boat on a wet gravel road. This trip is less about fishing and more about getting the boat set up correctly. We are gonna adjust the jack plate, program pages on the electronics and do other tweeks.

Water will be fairly high after today. So, Henderson would be good for that. Fishing, who knows. I've caught some when the water was high. They just have much more room to spread out.

Now you can, trim up at all times when crossing the weir. But as of today you can get in.
