If you have any of this I would suggest you tose it or check it out to see if it does this to you.
I was on fishing trip yesterday and after half a day needed more sun block so I borrowed this from fishing buddy. (I have used bullfrog for years it is thick zinc based and works well stays put etc.) This was some type of gel stuff but I thought ok. Went on fine, I was careful to avoid my eyes etc.
First hour or two was fine. Then after baking on sun some sweat came off my brow and got in my eye. Not a lot but my eye felt like it was on fire. I have had tons of crap accidentally get my eye from chemicals to whatever. Nothing like this. Ever. I literally could not open my eye for hours. I had eye drops with me that did nothing. Even when I got to the dock and did complete medical eye wash with stuff guy had it barely helped at all. It was as if as long as any of my eye touched my skin it couldn't function. This was really bad as I only have one "good eye" to begin with. My fishing buddy said it had similar experience with this stuff.
I have no clue why this stuff is that toxic to eye tissue, whether this was bad batch or not, but I seriously considered going to ER over this and my eye still hurts. Remender, This was not me getting this in my eye intially but hours later with a drop of sweat. It was like acid.
I would avoid this product. I could only imagine some poor parent getting this stuff in a child's eye. If they had same reaction I have no doubt you would end up at ER.

I saw they discontinued their water product last year and I wonder if this was why

I'm thinking I would have tossed it instead of letting a friend go through the same thing...

i've been using their Quick Gel products for years. Grease up before i leave the house, never reapply. Greatest shite ever. Really works, except when i forget to apply it, whereupon i get sunburned. Never have gotten burned after using it, and really avoid getting any sunscreen in my eye. Not sure why you blame Bullfrog for your error. Warning label says: "don't get in your eye, dumbass!"

That's great asshat. If you actually read my fricking post or have a functional mind capable of understanding at a second grade level you would know that I specifically said I also use their products for years with no problems and that I did not get any into my eyes at all and did not have any problems into several hours later when a sweat bead touched my eyeball.

Nothing works better than the lotion neutrogena beach defense. I use 70 and slather that shot all on my face and it hasn't once gotten a stingy feeling in my eyes. It's awesome.

My fishing buddy told me he uses that. I have never had any problems before this other than normal burning for 5 minutes. Maybe this was bad batch or something

I've had their combo sunscreen/mosquito repellent etch the coating on my Costa frames. Never tried the gel, thanks for the PSA.

Bruh, you seem to be projecting. I am simply supporting a great product, which you are defaming b/c you screwed up. I didn't make a post defaming jalopeno peppers after burning my satchel last week. Just took it like a man and recognized my mistake. #TeamBullfrog
