I'm looking to run 6/3 direct burial from the main panel at my house out to my shop. I've found some good prices on 125 FT spool for around $245 ($1.96 per foot) but I'm worried this length will really be cutting it close. Most of the other spools I have found jump up to 250-500 FT from there which is way more than I need. Anybody have any sources for 150 FT spools at roughly this cost per foot or somewhere that sells it per foot at this cost? It seems if you purchase by the foot it is roughly $4.00 per foot which makes me

Try crawford, elliot, graybar, notoco.

All electrical supply houses, should be able to get you setup.

You used to be able to pay by the foot at Home Depot. Not sure if this is still the case.

you could buy the 125' spool and if it is not enough do a splice inside of a weather proof junction box near your shop. that way you could buy the last amount of wire you need and not have to step up to another spool size then have way too much.

First of all how many amps will you need in the shop?

If you are on a tight budget you can save some money by using aluminum URD cable. For what you are doing the URD will be fine, don't use alum for branch circuits but for a feeder it's fine.

Thanks to this post I was reminding of a fishing buddy who works for Elliot. He gave me a good price on what I was looking for, appreciate all the tips though!
