You can tell why the mouth of the Atchafalya is building land. Look at the sediment plume there

helps that it's much shallower off the delta as well.

Damn, I meant to go see it today. It's pretty freaking awesome to see when it's rolling fast. Will have to wait until Friday I guess

I want to fish the Rigolets right before the plume hits that area

Really a cool map. Will make fishing Venice later in the year nice when the river isn't at 17' hopefully can find less influenced water. I have it bookmarked.

When they opened it in 2011 several Lake guides made a killing seeking out & finding the salt water pockets.

Seems like the plume is moving a lot faster than the last time the spillway opened.

A little over a week opened and it's already at Chef Pass and hugging the entire south shore.

Passed over BC today. Water was rolling. Not as much as the MS River at the 3 rivers structures though

It'll be the same now. There are several spots in the lake that are unaffected by the fresh water based on the underwater topography. Curiously enough, the bigger trout were the ones that hung around. Some of the biggest trout I ever caught/saw caught out of the lake were towards the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012. I have pictures on my phone of a 5 fish, 33lb 2oz stringer from the following March. Those spots held fish last time, so hopefully they'll hold fish again this time.
