I’ve had a few orders made from Mickey Brown’s, D&S, and Pete Giovenco’s Deer Depot over the past few years.
Both MB’s and D&S are dry tamales, meaning no sauce where Deer Depot has a tamale sauce with it. While the sauce is good with DD, the is little to no corn meal on the tamales. Add to that, the tamales have a much different taste. Good, but maybe not worth the extra you’ll pay for the Deer Depot ones.
I prefer D&S over MB’s. I find it’s a perfect mix of meat and corn meal. You’d want to hurry though as I believe they shut down soon after the season ends.

Days Smokehouse in Denham Springs
I’ve been told their tamales are great, but I haven’t tried them yet. They are making some for me right now. 15 lbs makes like 30 dozen so they better be good. Anyone else use them for deer processing?

Little tip, steam them in a colander in your crawfish water after you shut off the burner, only takes about 5 mins, good God what a game changer.
I put them in when the crawfish are soaking for a couple minutes. Get a little messy, but awesome

There is if you're eating Mexican tamales.

Anyone ever had Tamales from Tramonte's in Baton Rouge? How do they compare to Mickey Brown's and D&S?

The best Deer Tamales I've ever ate came from the Houma Area. The best deer boudin I've ever ate came from Chris's Specialty Meats in Zachary. It was probably some of the best boudin I've ever eaten. Think he paid like $4-$5lb seems like I remember him bitching about the price but it was damn good.
