Have a guy looking to unload this for $500. Runs absolutely fine. I'll probably change, or rebuild the carb, change the brakes, and fix the ignition switch. Pretty ok shape body wise.
Is it worth it for that price?
ETA: not 250. Getting all the info from the BIL, as I haven't seen it yet. He ran it at top speed for a little while and said it ran just fine. I figure with <$200 for replacement parts it'll be a good deal.

dont even remember them making a 250 rancher, just the recon. id ask to run it hard for a weekend or two to make sure hes not bullshitting you

Is it a 250 or 350? 250 would be a Recon
Posted on 9/16/16 at 11:16 am to civiltiger07
yeah, it's either 250 recon or 350 rancher. might be good to figure that out

I'm hoping to see it in a little while. Bro-In-Law is the one relaying info to me as of now.
Sorry for the confusion.

either way, id prob buy it at that price. the work you described is probably all that would be necessary.
cool thing about those little recons is that if you get stuck, you and a buddy can just pick it up and carry it somewhere dry

$500 and "fix the ignition switch" screams stolen to me. How well do you know the seller?

If you pass on it for $500 kick yourself in the arse on the way back to the truck.

Just checked it out. Aside from the things I listed, it'll need a little elbow grease on it for sure. Probably a new seat or seat cover as the back of the seat is torn. Started on the first crank (ignition switch is out) and ran while holding the choke (changing carb anyway). Said they haven't ran it in a while, which proves the carb issue.
BIL knows them well enough to say he knows them, but basically that it. However, BIL ran the VIN (he's PD) and it came back clean.
I'll be picking it up in a couple of hours.

Sounds like you might have scored a deal.

How long was it under water?
Posted on 9/16/16 at 11:59 pm to Chris4x4gill2
It seems to be a pretty good deal, yes.
Sancho, not underwater at all. Gheens did not take on water. The guy was just ready to get rid of it due to him not using it anymore (hence the carb problems). Minimal body work, with the other issues listed, will make it a good ride. I'll need to post pics before and after probably.
Really thanks for the opinions listed guys.

absolutely... we have a 2000, and it still runs the same exact way it the day we bought it... honda really builds a fine bike, and for $500, that's a steal IMO
