What's an average day like? I would think there has to be more bureaucracy than just patrolling your assigned area, filling out your logs and going home.

Any info would be appreciated.

ETA: I did the physical fitness test down in Baton Rouge today. There was a lot more guys out there than I expected. Started out with close to 50 applicants and by the end of the day was a little under 20. I ended up doing very well on all three portions, but will probably be competing against a lot of applicants for about 15 spots. Wish me luck.

ETA: Completed the interview process. Took about 10 minutes total once I was in the office. I guess it's just wait for further details at this point.

Thanks. I'm going through the hiring process now and want to find out as much as I can before I leave the job I currently have.

I worked in admin for a little over a year, long time ago. I hope you have a lot of prior LEO experience and lots of patience. They have a backlog of recruits that are all overqualified right now.

Do they have funding for a class? Do they have an upcoming academy?

Thanks for the info. Yes, I have a similar background from when I was in the military. I received an email that they were moving forward on my application, assuming everything goes well on the physical fitness test. I've been informed that there will be an academy starting in September (give or take due to #of Cadets)

Good luck. I know a few Wardens. All the ones I've met seem to be good guys.

What area are you looking at working?

A lot of riding around in the truck, walking around checking shite out, and filling out paperwork in the truck

I know a couple, it's a badass job here. It's a division of Troopers so you're a State Trooper but wear a different uniform. Lots of riding around in boats and planes in beautiful areas and the pay ain't bad.

Awesome. I wanted to switch to enforcement, but saw the waiting list and the quality of applicants. I now manage finance companies.

Best of luck, keep us updated.

Majority are complete cocksuckers in Ga. You'd have to be one to deal with the shitty pay and general bullshite that comes with the job.

I was one from 1996-2001. Pay sucked back then, i think they had a few raises since then, and if i stayed i would be making about 60k. My lieutenant is still there so there so I would still be the same rank as I was 15 years ago. Glad I got out when i did. It was a fun job, but changed a whole lot over the 5 years I was there. It started out fun, but we got a new captain who was a complete a-hole.

Funny story, there was a female cadet in our academy. When she got out she was paired up with a field training officer. Well one night she was having too much fun in the truck with him, and some old coonass saw the truck rocking. Poor old fellow didnt know there were any female game wardens, so he called the office to report 2 gay game wardens gettin it on in the truck!!!! LMAO

I was almost one. Went through the whole hiring process back on 2003. Apparently the psychological exam is something to take serious. They give it because of the insurance company that covers LDW&F. And apparently if you like to drink they can't hire you
