how are the turkeys acting in Arkansas/Louisiana? I figure as late as the season started in Arkansas that there arent many being killed. I had a pretty bad car accident on April 3rd and am laid up with a shattered ankle and shattered wrist, first time Ive missed a turkey season in 30+ years. Just wondering if anybody is killing anything.

I had a great season. Made 4 hunts. Killed 2 birds including my best bird ever.

Only got to hunt a couple hours on Monday in AR, around Hampton. Was a great morning, even though I never saw a Gobbler. Had to work, so couldn't stay but an hour after light, but the woods around me were full of birds, Gobbling in the trees about 100 yrds from my set up. Could distinguish 4 separate Gobblers that really put on a show, and just would never pull towards me. Found out there was a creek between me and them, and they were with hens, but would still respond to my calling. Creek is pretty big, and bigger now since rain, but will figure how to get to that other side this weekend.

For us they have been henned up most of the season it has reduced gobbling and they haven't been real call responsive as a result. Got a lot better this week as nesting has started in full force.

Camp is off 172, where County rd 115 and County rd 14 meet. Stop by if you are around.
