Turkey hunters, do I need to go out and buy one of these $90 chokes are will my full choke be enough? I turkey hunt once a year so I'm not sure if its worth the investment. But if it makes that big a difference I'll spend the money. Thanks in advance.

If you only go once a year I would carry a rifle

Thanks crank! I was hoping to get that response. Now I can blow that $$ on baits.

A factory full choke from a typical 12 gauge using quality ammo is good for a 30 yard shot. If shooting further than 30 you'd certainly benefit from an aftermarket choke as it will buy you another 10 yards. My experience has been that you can get a solid aftermarket choke for $30 or so. The high end choke tubes from Indian Creek or the like will push $60-75 and I dont see the need if you hunt just once a year.

I thought about using my x-bow.

I turkey hunt maybe 2 days a year and bought a Primos Jellyhead choke for my Benelli. Cheap and......well, I'm not sure if it works because I have yet to fire a shot with it.

There you go. No need for a choke

The primos jelly head was $89 at bowies.

You dont need an expensive choke.. a few years ago I bought a Remington Ventilator choke for 19.99 to my door and it has been the best choke I have shot out of my 870... Killed 6 with it so far and a couple out to 45 yards.
