I'm about to start looking into a tuna fishing trip for myself and some old college friends. Any recommendations on charters? Is there a certain time of year that's better than others? Thanks!

Yes, late Oct, or the third week of Jan thru the start of March. Best out of Venice.

Go ahead and drop the coin on
Mexican Gulf Fishing Co.

Ask for captain Billy Wells to be your captain

Late September to November, Get a captain out of Fourchon that runs a Freeman, you dont have to worry about going down the river.

Captain Brad with Fish Commander. Took us out Grand Isle, put us on them, stayed as long as we wanted on the Tuna and THEN we hit two spots to limit out on Snapper (5 of us).

Brought 3 Tuna into the boat (had two Break the line), with a rainbow runner and 10 Snapper. Stayed out on a day charter for well over 12 hours to make us happy. Cleaned it all for us at the marina once we were done.

I cannot recommend them enough. Well worth the money.

Second for Pittman. Pittman and Eddie Berger are good guides and great times.

Mexican gulf, Eddie Berger, and Hunter Caballero are some of the best in Venice.

Also can't really forget Peace Marvel not many know more about deep water fishing off Louisiana than Peace.

I'd imagine Pittman and Eddie are booked all of October/November weekends all ready, however if OP can get them you won't be disappointed.
