40 years ago my mother got my first dog for me for easter. A half golden half lab from donna douglas. He was a gorgeous well behaved farm dog for the years we had him.

I'd love to give my son the same gift.

If anyone has a lead within 3-4 hours of BR, I'm looking for a puppy between 7-11 weeks.

Unfortunately I can’t help but:

Just curious, what color and hair length was your dog?

My purebred golden knocked up my neighbors lab when I was young. We gave all the pups away but I heard from a couple people how they made great dogs.

I can’t help either but my SIL is blind with Seeing Eye dogs. Her current dog is 3/4 Lab,1/4 Golden Retriever. He’s solid black, hair is a little longer than pure bred Lab.He’s 9,she’s had him 7 years.
Her previous dog was 1/2Lab,1/2 Golden ,female.Looked exactly like a yellow Lab,hair length and all.Had her 7-8 years.

Prior to that she had 3 pure Labs, they didn’t last very long at all.1 went blind, one had anxiety issues and was destroying her furniture, other one had health issues. She did have a pure Lab prior to those 3 that lasted a good many years.

Seems to me they are doing better with Lab/Golden crosses.Hybrid vigor I guess.

All Seeing Eye dogs are very chill dogs with great temperaments, super obedient. They don’t put them out leading the blind if they weren’t.

It’s possible sometimes to adopt a retired dog but you have to go to New Jersey to be interviewed with no guarantees they’ll choose you.

Interesting side story-one of her friends had a dog that developed vision problems,a veterinary opthamologist fitted him with glasses, goggles actually.I would love to know how they determine prescription lenses for a dog.

He looked exactly like a lab, but was the color of a red golden. Beautiful dog.

Terrible puppy.

He used to eat the large glass christmas light bulbs... I assume just to make my mom angry.
