My truck has started to rattle in the front end if I hit a bump, I can feel it through the floorboard. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? I was thinking ball joints but I'm not very mechanically inclined. Thanks in advance.

**I think I found it. So after looking all under the front end and not finding anything, I drove it down the street to try to pinpoint exactly what it felt like. I realized I was feeling it through the pedals. So I got out and wiggled the pedal and figured out it was loose. Only problem is I can't find any bolts that have come loose. Could it be as simple as something like that, or does that mean a bigger problem? Thanks guys.

What kind of truck? How old?
Could be something as simple as the sway bar end links.

That could be a ton of things.... bearings, loose swing arm, broken stability bar, literally 100 things

I have a 98 4runner that started doing this last year, drove me crazy... Finally narrowed down the sound to the hood. Those little rubber bumpers on which the hood rests had worn out. I used some scratch guards for chair legs, glued to top of the little bumpers to make up for the missing space so the hood would sit snug, no more squeaking. Take a rubber mallet and go around your vehicle, bang on your tires and see if you can localize the sound. Jump on your bumpers front and rear also, a friend or your wife helping to listen for the sound helps to.

my powerstroke does that, I think it's the sway bar bushings on mine.

Crawl up under the truck and look for suspension wear. Knock things around a bit with a rubber mallet, and you'll find the culprit quickly.

Make sure you check the sway bar bushings. It's a common wear item, and an easy one to change. ($20)

The ones on my truck looked almost this bad when they started making noise.

I bought some new ones from O'Reilly and had them swapped out in 20 minutes.

Get under there and start grabbing and shaking steering components until you feel like something is loose.

Feel it in your feet only and not the steering wheel?

If it doesn't feel like it's in the steering, you may want to put it on a jack stand without the tire and see if it's something in that area. Sometimes you need an extra hand or an extra ear to really pinpoint the problem. Been there done that and it's a pain in the arse.

I'd be concerned if my truck didn't rattle when I hit a bump.

It sounds ridiculous but have you driven on a gravel road recently?

I've had two instances where a small piece of crushed limestone got wedged between the frame and the cab floor.

I could feel it in the floorboards but not in the steering wheel.

I don't know about Fords but Chevy puts this stupid bearing in the steering column that doesn't last 20k miles.
