Tree Transplanting

Are there any local Baton Rouge companies that transplant large trees? Looking at putting a Live Oak or something with decent size in a front yard.

Go to forest hill, pick up a tree that is 3-4 foot tall, and plant it. In 5 years it'll be as big as I'm guessing is the biggest you'd want to transplant.
Seriously, I've found planting smaller ones, they take off and grow faster.

i think either option is good. I went to Forest Hill last year (Doug Young Nursery) and bought 5 15 ft oak trees for $110 each. They were all in 30 gallon containers and have all survived the 1st year. I planted them all about this time last year.
By contrast my neighbor bought about 10 oaks from Wilkenson Tree farm out side of Lake Charles and they all are doing very well also. They are about the same height but the trunks are thicker. From what I read these trees grow really fast in the first 5 years and then it slows quite a bit. I don't know of a tree farm near Baton Rouge but you can probably call Wilkenson Tree Farm in Iowa, LA and see if they know of one. The transplanted trees are in the $500+ each range I think.

I remember reading several years back about a company that would transplant full-sized live oak trees that were a couple of hundred years old...can't remember who they were, though....
depends really on the size of the tree that you are wanting to transplant...anything up to 6 or 8" in dia should be doable by anyone with a tree spade...
