Do you guys replace them every so often? If so, how often? 18' Lowe aluminum bass boat; with 2 Talons I might add.

Why would you need to replace a trailer hitch ball?

Mine was rusty so I replaced it with a nice new chrome ball. Actually made a difference in ease of hooking up alone. Got one on clearance from the Mart for maybe $3.

I'm pulling a 3000# boat 25 miles. I'll be alright.
Sounds like good advice regarding hookers also.

Once a week, sometimes twice....just don't want an "oh shite" moment

Got a bunch of them dating back to ww2. All rusty. All work.
I recently started going with stainless large shank. More expensive, easier to hook up.
I put antisieze inside my hitches anyways.

Doesn't seem like he plans on skimping on anything either

No. Are you overloading your towing equipment?

Pawpaw never changed his out........and I'm still using them. Can't see replacing one just because its rusty.

I never skimp on single point of failures; never.

Neither can I; I was more curious about the life expectancy than anything else. Mine's 5 1/2 yrs old & was curious if anyone else replaced them periodically.
