Have a Kubota L4630 that won’t start. Back story is I was bushogging in some tall stuff and the temp light came on so I shut it down for an hour or so, came back and checked the coolant level, which it was a little low so added some and cleaned all the grass etc out from the radiator, the screens etc and checked the air filter etc. The the damn thing wouldn’t start. It will turn over, but is acting like it isnt getting fuel. I am no expert mechanic, but have checked the basics and can trace down things given direction. I left it for 2 days sitting in the field and came back to it today hoping it would start and same thing. Turns over strong, but doesn’t fire, not getting any smoke while starting etc. Checked the oil and the color is fine. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t milky from over heating to rule that out and isn’t. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to throw out.

Could be a lot of anything. Generally when a mechanical diesel will turn over but won't attempt to start it either doesn't have fuel pressure to the pump or the shutdown valve isn't opening.

First thing I'd do is make sure it actually has fuel in it. Then drain the water separator and crack an injector line to make sure you are getting fuel up to there.

Make sure the you didn’t leave the PTO engaged and it has fuel, wouldn’t say it if I hadn’t done it. Check for wire connectors pulled loose while you were getting rid of gas, but typically a sensor being off it won’t turn over, may have changed with newer ones. Oil level/pressure alarm will let it turn over and start to crank then shut it down.

Since it’s turning over and just won’t fire, I’d be looking at air in the fuel system. There’s a pump on the fuel filter you can use to manually prime the lines, may have to crack one open at the injectors.

Not sure what year your tractor is, but there is generally a kill solenoid on the injector pump. Many times when those small 4cyl diesel motors run hot that solenoid sticks and will do exactly what your describing. You generally just need a pipe wrench and can unthread the solenoid from the injector pump and if that's the issue it should fire right up.

Hit her with the ether, if she don't crank, you got an electrical problem.

I have an L3400. When you turn the key on do you hear a solenoid kick in. My son left my key on one time and it pulled that solenoid in until it burnt the solenoid. The solenoid was a fuel valve that opened when the tractor was turned on.

I think there's a kill switch in the seat also, might be worth checking

Give it a puff of ether. If it tries to start you have a fuel delivery problem. As mentioned, probably electronic fuel valve.

Basically if it turns over but doesn't even attempt to start, it's a fuel problem short of destroyed engine.
