Up to 15% (225,000) may require total frame replacement.

The Tacoma frame, for instance, has 11 versions, ranging in price from $4,338 to $4,889. But the labor for the repair could push the total warranty bill per vehicle to $15,000 or more, according to a Toyota dealer who has been replacing frames for several years and asked not to be named.

Any Toyotas 2011 and newer are fine. The Tacoma Gen1s were notorious for frame rust where they salted roads. I've looked under some and damn they were nasty.

I have a 12 so I'm good. They have anything for when a dickhead drives his atv through the back glass and up onto the cab?

Holy crap! I just got my 2009 Tacoma's leaf springs replaced under a recall! Before that it was the head light assembly. I did my oil change yesterday and have been noticing some rust on the frame but nothing I would be too concerned about. However, I wouldn't turn down a new frame if Toyota felt the need to replace it. I still think it's a fine truck

Would it not be cheaper to just buy a vehicle that old outright? Instead of 15k for a whole new frame.

I have an 08 Tacoma. My leaf springs are the worst noise makers

I haven't gotten replacement springs yet.

A while back Toyota told me there was no fix. I guess that has changed from what was posted above.

Damn. I'm looking at used Tacomas and most of them have the recall for the springs on the carfaxes.

yes, they're replacing the rear leafs. I got the call about 2 weeks after i'd installed OME Dakar springs on mine, mind you said call was about 2 damn years after receiving the recall notice. They reimbursed me and we called it good.

Good to know. I guess it's time I bring mine in. I have about five other recalls too.

Try extending the springs all of the way and spraying lube/grease in there. My 04 made noise, and that usually fixed it

Same here. What is the deal with the headlight assembly? They gave me a price to fix this when I brought mine in for leaf springs. Was this a recall also? My head light work fine to me.

Yeah, I've got the spiral cable and frame inspection outstanding on mine still. Maybe one day I'll get by there.

Based on Tacomaworld there's numerous folks that have had frame replacements, but as stated seems most are from road salting states/regions.

IIRC the light assembly will melt from heat produced by the bulb.
