I never do this ever, and I never pop out any guides. Do you constantly have ppl using your poles that are incompetent? Cutting the tip? I'm so confused because I would hope you don't ruin your pole(s) buy cutting a notch in the leader.

I was wondering too. What he's saying is he cuts a groove in the tip of the sharpie, and runs the line through it to keep it from being seen by the fish.

The grove in sharpie allows you to make one swipe down the braided line and get it inked.

I always set my drag according to the first fish, then I usually give it a extra turn and a half. But for bass I keep it loose.

Here is a weird question for some of you bass fisherman. Why have the bass been running to me when the hit my lure? They were not doing this Pre/spawning periods but post spawn they have been running straight to me. This creates weird hook sets and sometimes I rip it completely out of their mouths unlike before. Is this happening to any of you as well?

There's a bunch around them, they are trying to keep it away from the others.

Does the sharpie really make that much of a difference even with my mono(3ft) leader? I use flukes A LOT and use spoons/spinners 30% of the time. With the line constantly piping across the water does it really matter that the last three foot of braid is black? I thought green braid was pretty invisible already.

The above is for redfish and trout, just to clarify.

Not the mono. If you don't use mono and tie braid direct. You're braid will begin to fade after a few trips and hopefully catching fish. It turns whitish, so I ink it when it starts. I got the idea from KVD, perhaps he's doing it wrong, jury is still out on him.

Me either obviously....I wonder if it will benefit me though. I'm usually the one that pull the most/best quality in anyway but to rub it in my brother's face more would be hilarious.

Oh, I see what your saying now. No I always, always, always use a mono leader no need for the sharpie. Interesting theory, though I would be worried about a sharpie stinking up the trail of my lure.

No need to; it's not like you're slinging at bones in gin water. If you want to get technical, freshly waxed braid should retain its buoyancy better than frayed braid due to the water displacement (fresh wax), but this is MS river delta we're talking about. Y'all, it really doesn't matter, this is Louisiana, we all catch fish.

30 pound broad fishing around structure. 15 to 17 pound mono for top water and 15 to 17 pound Fluoro for soft plastics that I'm fishing towards the bottom.
