There was a thread here yesterday about the dangers out there on cold, windy days and here is further proof.
Three young guys died near Baytown after capsized.

3 men and 2 dogs with gear in a 17ft flat bottom boat in a bay?
Wow tragic.
The mothers quote at the bottom had me choked up

I would normally agree but I've done far more stupid things than that to get on good ducks at their age. Not having the money to buy proper equipment at that age and the belief you're invincible leads to trajedies like this. My brother and I were very fortunate when I look back at the crap we did to shoot a few ducks.

Was going to post the same thing.
If these guys were 40 I'd have different feelings about the situation, but I look back at the things I did for a deer or duck in college and this could have easily been me. The thought of making it back never even entered my mind. There is a reason they draft 18 year olds and not 35. We were invincible back then.

bad thing is, for every one of these tragedies that you read about, there are probably 20 very close calls that you never hear about.
as I see it, if you are in the outdoors, eventually something will happen, so you'd better be prepared for it when that time comes...

Lost 2 friends in the late 70's duck hunting while in high school. tide went out, they were stuck, froze to death. they were experienced hunters. tough way to die. Be very careful, mother nature is unforgiving.
