I own a dodge with no paint missing and no cracks in the dash despite the more severe weather here vs LA. Fords front wheel independent suspension and the well known "black box" electrical relays make them crap.

I've heard of dodges keeping their paint and dash boards not cracking too.

I have a couple Taurus handguns and haven't had a problem with any of them. The 24/7 .40 is my main handgun and not a single issue through 1000+ rounds. My newest acquire is the pt609 9mm. I love the compactibility with 13 rds.

Words of wisdom here.

I saw an extractor claw snap on a Taurus 1911 when I was with my friends at Sherbourne. I had never seen that happen before until that day. It was firing a round and the case was just sitting in the chamber. We didn't know why it wouldn't eject the round and then noticed the flat face of the breach with no claw on the edge. Tisk tisk...

It's been mentioned twice in here and I agree. The Ruger SR series of handguns really is the best value for the money. I purchased my SR9c for $419 at Precision a couple of years ago. The damn thing runs like a top after thousands of rounds and I carry it almost daily. I trust my life with it for sure.

I've been eyeballing that SR45 though. But if you want other flavors, you can always get one in 9, 40, or 45.

I had a PT 111 Millenium (2008), fired over 1000 rds thru it and never had an issue. It was a pretty sweet pistol considering the price.

If you're on a budget, the cheapest high quality brand is Ruger. SR9 is a great gun.

I just bought the millennium g2 for the truck and really like it. It's got really good reviews.

Absolutely.

But be sure you start them on the full sized SR9 and not the SR9c, which is the compact.

A lot of newer shooters don't realize this but:

Larger handguns (dimensionally, not caliber) are ALWAYS easier to shoot. The only time a full sized handgun isn't good is if you plan to carry it.

If your sisters just want a nice handgun for general self defense, the Ruger SR9 is very basic and easy to use.

BUT make sure you take them to the store and have them see how it feels in their hands. Comfort is a huge thing with handguns. This is why I can't shoot Glocks worth a damn. The ergonomics are terrible.

Look up my channel on YouTube: Bigapple0828. I have tons of information for new shooters.

Yes. I bought a SR9c for the wife for $425. Its perfect for her. Lightweight, compact, reliable, accurate and inexpensive. The Ruger SR9c is thin and has no finger grooves on the grip so women can get a good handle on it--as opposed to my glock 23 and ruger gp100 which do have finger grooves and they interfere with her forming a comfortable grip on the gun. It also has adjustable sights, which most guns of that size/price do not have. Another added bonus is that she is able to rack the slide easily as opposed to when she attempts to on my 40 and 45.

I don't really understand the hate either. I have a PT pro 24/7 and have never had any issues with it.

Taurus makes a decent revolver, semi-autos....not so much.

So of those that have commented and put multiple hundreds of rounds through a Taurus, the 24/7 (not surprising as it was the NRA handgun of the year award recipient in 2005) and millennium pro models are reliable and functional guns. I will add that the 24/7 has a great feel in my moderately large hands and I find it very ergonomic. Sadly, the Taurus 1911 just does not make the cut for craftsmanship or durability as mentioned earlier.

So having a functioning feature that you can choose to use or not use makes you roll your eyes.

Oh no, the truck I wanted has a cigarette lighter and I don't smoke! Guess I should
