That gaff loss at 2:40 cracked me up. Same thing happened to me last summer. Don't think the guys will ever let me live that one down.

Catching tuna on poppers is the best.
This is pretty much the only trip I'm ever going to pay for ever again.

That was my first time catching them on poppers. And I thought bass blowing up on a frog was fun......... this definitely raises the bar.

In Motorboat's defense, he looked so drunk he couldn't have operated a video camera.

I went out of Venice this weekend and for the first time we didn't bring in a tuna. Listening to the captains on the radio it seemed like everyone was having a horrible day on tuna. This was Saturday day. Pretty disappointing, but we were able to limit out on red snapper.

I am almost convinced that the tuna over there know when it is weekend and don't eat.

same here, plus all the sportfishers wrapping the rigs constantly pushed all the tuna down.

there was a 155lb yellowfin pulled off Medusa.

Yea our captain decided to go west after seeing all of the boats launching at Venice Marina. He knew it was going to be a clusterfrick on the east side. Turned out to be one on the west too. When we moved east for snapper, the currents and seas were pretty intense. This was around 5PM. We battled it out though and limited out in about 40 mins.

What charter did you use? And yea one sportfisher took my line when we were chumming and almost spooled me. The captain was trying to radio him but he never answered so we had to haul arse towards him so he didn't lose all of the line. Those sportfishers are dicks.

There would be no way I would pay for a charter and the captain lose the gaff... Just messing, that's a good buddy of mines boat. He's pretty dailed into the offshore fish.

I was just wondering how often that happened too.

They got a couple thousand sitting on the bottom of the gulf. Two with my name on them. Dam rookies. Oh, someone needs to learn how to used a gaff and stop chasing a fish.

Nice video.
