I'm not gonna get into another debate here, I'm glad you choose to carry a gun and exorcise your 2nd ammendment right. Carry it and draw it in a manner that you are comfortable with.

I wear mine in the small of my back at times, and I still use my left handed draw from my left handed holster.

Personally, I would strongly advise against using the left handed holster from a right handed draw. Too much risk involved, flagging yourself during a draw is entirely too dangerous

I wear my 1911 in the small of my back but only when I am wearing blue jeans and a hawaiian shirt.

Right handed people that draw from a right handed holster pull the gun up and out of the holster then pick up the gun un front of them, the muzzle naturally never points at their body.
Right handed person with a left handed holster, the muzzle will point at you because you have to "spin", for lack of a better term, the gun to point in the right direction.
I'm sure I didn't explain it very well, I could show it better. Maybe someone here that is an instructor/LEO could explain it better than I can.

No need for a holster when you carry in the small of your back. Just make sure you have a black helicopter pilot friend to rush you to the hospital in case you shoot yourself in the kidney or the liver.

I think your refering to sweeping the gun, but thats a major no no in public areas. Should stay pointing down when drawn from the back until brought to your side. We still might be on two diff pages though

Def should still use a right handed. Dont think he thought his draw through too well.

Another vote for Crossbreed Supertuck.

quote:

It is possible to tuck with the Crossbreed just not very neat. My favorite is my Galco Belt Holster at about 4:00 with untucked shirt. By far the most comfortable that I have found for me

^^ This is my favorite way to carry as well.

The way I see it is I would pull it straight out to my side then when it clears my body pointing it straight down brining it up to the shooting position. I don't see where I would be pointing it at me any more than the other way.

DM Bullard Dual carry. Have one for my 1911 and love it. Makes the crossbreed holster I have for my XD look like a cheap piece of shite.

Practice the motion without a gun, remember, the way you grip the gun in the holster will be drastically different. With a right hand draw holster the barrel is most naturally facing away from you, with the left it may seem to clear your body but with just a little laziness you would literally be aiming right into your arse more than likely.

No holster. If I get shot Rick and TC are always there to save me in a flash anyway.

So for guys having to wear slacks and tucked in button down how do you conceal carry?

BP, good question. Using the right tuckable inside the waist band (IWB) holster and a belt designed to carry a holster/gun, it's really not that hard. The holster is carried inside the waist band; it's attached to the belt outside the waistband. A tuckable holster allows for the part of your shirt that's tucked in to your pants to also cover up the gun and the holster. The only thing showing is the clip(s) used to attach the holster to the belt. Actually, I usually wear my IBW holster untucked more often than tucked as untucked is just more convenient. These pics should make it clearer than my description.

Sometimes I'll pocket carry a gun instead of tucking in the shirt. I've never used ankle carry and don't intend to try it.

Meh, I've got an ankle rig for my Airweight. It's not bad but takes some getting used to. If I go long periods without wearing it then put it on, it feels like my left leg weighs 100 lbs more than my right for an hour or so until I get used to it again. Its definitly not ideal though
