I live in Cocoa Beach. I take a boat out in the mangroves but usually kayak around until I find some fish.

I catch trout, redfish, snook right now, and pretty much everything else there is to catch around here.

Can someone suggest a reliable setup for me? I'd be willing to spend 200 bucks but wouldn't mind spending less.

That's a good start, but that leaves 110$ or so. Spinnings I've used in the past didn't hold up well for that type of fishing, minus the snook of course.

This is really the only answer, but not in the budget at all.

Thanks guys. Literally nobody uses baitcasters out here would it be better to get one?

Honestly, spincast is probably better, but I would definitely prefer a baitcast since that is the only thing I use.

Once you go baitcaster you never go back.
I like the older Curados on a 7' Falcon Original medium. Brought in a 35-40# Jack on it, no worries.
Have heard bad things about the newer Curados, maybe the OB can enlighten you.
There is a learning curve with a BC, but once you have it down the world is a better place.

It's all I used too until I moved out here. Just thought it was the norm to use a spincast here.

I must have skipped over the rod part.

I think I might go with a baitcast to keep what I'm familiar with.

to be honest, i'd recommend spending a little more and getting a real quality rod and reel...that way you don't have to worry about upgrading and it'll last a hell of a lot longer
