Picked up the Springfield Loaded MC Operator last month (a fricking masterpiece).
LINK

Already got a Blackhawk tac light and Wilson Combat 8 and 10 round mags. Thinking about replacing the grips, maybe VZ grips LINK. Also been thinking about some other custom options. Anyone have a 1911 similar and have done any work to it aftermarket (grips, barrel etc.)

I've been looking at 1911's and aftermarket goodies for them for a while, I want one badly If I were to replace grips I'd probably order some Ahrends grips in some kind of exotic wood, but I like the look of wood grips.

I'm heavily considering getting a SA GI 1911 this winter if I have the coin, and I'm already thinking of what I'd add to it

Ill tell you what not to get unless you just plan to pretty it up.

I would not get alumagrips, every time my hands got sweaty they were slick.

Id go with a micarta grip or something like it.

It looks like a lot of people like the Pachmayr grips as well.

I ordered these yesterday for my ATI 1911. Will post back how I like them once they come in.

I also purchased the MC operator recently, I love it. I have a Springfield mil-spec with vz grips and they are sweet. But after putting a 1000 rounds through the mc operator, I really like the pachmyer grips that came with it.

full disclosure...whiskey induced, but i fricking hate every grip they make for any gun. They look shitty and they feel shitty. stick to wood on a 1911...(TWSS). I frequent bayoushooter.com and I can't tell you how many good deals I passed on because the gun had Pachmayr grips.

Mine is probably too which is why I'll get a CZ-75 varient instead of a 1911.

I was looking at the Rock Island Armory 1911's, but I think I'd go with a Springfield GI in stainless. I see prices just south of $600.
I'm still a little on the fence on whether I want a polymer .45 (Glock or XDm) or a 1911, but with the prices pretty close I'm leaning towards 1911.

Yea the only pro for me for the polymer guns is capacity, but since this is gonna be more of a shooter/something to tinker with than a self defense gun 1911 seems like the obvious choice. And if I can't stop someone with 8 rounds of .45acp then I'm doing something wrong
