Guy's, Life happened and it caused me to miss the sportsman show being back at the dome. How was it....the good, the bad and the ugly. Lets hear it.

They gave themselves awards for being the best at being themselves.

yeah it was pretty shitty. The "show sales" were laughable. I think they were actually higher than retail

i enjoyed the show

more exhibitors than i thought would be there

the sales were OK- there really isn't huge profit margins in rods/reels so it's tough to get really cheap

I don't hunt, but I really enjoyed seeing all of the Duck Boats

if it's there next year- I'll probably go back

I heard one bait vendor, who I bought a few baits from say that he wont be back because its stupid expensive. The booth he had was a double wide against a wall and cost him $1400.

Massey was selling Perception Pilots for $1550. $250 off retail.

Puglias booth was 1/8th of the show floor, didnt see one thing in there that was priced well.

Lemmans had a sweet arse little Camo wrapped tractor.

A few booths with some nice food plot implements.

Lots of Mudboats.

Lots and lots or 4 wheelers.

Lots and lots and lots of $$$ coolers.

Lots and lots and lots and lots of over priced deer feeders and blinds.

$30,000 side by sides.

About 10 fishing boats.

1 booth (Puglias) was selling any fishing poles or reals (that I saw)

Saturday had way to many people on the show floor at noon.

I got in free and it was something to do on a rainy day. I wouldnt go out of my way to go back.s

Margins aren't great on certain brand of reels, but I know for a fact, most rod mfgs margins are high.

Yea most rod and reels are rolling around with a 250% mark up. There are a few brands that are rolling anywhere from 100% to 175% but majority stay north of 200%. Not sure where he heard that mess from.

I thought puglias had some good deals on rods and some reels. They appeared to be the only people that were selling anything.

Saw 3 more molded $$$ coolers I had never heard of before

New place from Lafayette (coastal) had a good looking camo pattern for marsh and rice field.

Lots of fat people walking around.

$15 for the dome to charge parking is ridiculous.

My wife (no pics) is in love with the Crevalle 26 open that was there. So I've got that going for me. And for future reference the self pay parking lot across from the dome was $10 for 10 hours.

That was a sweet boat, perfect for fishing the beaches and nearby rigs.

So was my 1.5 year old son. He did not want to get off that damn thing.

I had a good time at the show, but I had low expectations and I paid 4 bucks to park across the street.

who pays $15 bucks for dome parking when its less than $10 anywhere around it??? that is your own fault... there is a side street with a couple ghetto lots(not naming my spot). I always pull in there and pay the guy $5 and a couple beers. Nothing is ever touched.

I did because I didn't want to have to wade through the torrential downpour that happened Saturday.

I thought it was just okay. I was looking for rod deals and wasn't all that impressed by what I saw. Masseys had yaks but no accessories. Was hoping to find some local lure makers, but they really only had one vendor and a guy with a worm bar. More rotomolded coolers than I even knew existed.

All in all, wasn't that impressed.

It was way better at Lamar Dixon. I'll never go to another show at the dome.
