Spider Identification

Found this guy the other day and not really sure what kind of spider this is. He was about the size of a quarter.

thats the kind of spider that tries to catch you in its web when you're walking to your deer stand in early bow season.

It's an Argiope. Possibly a Silver. Did it have a zig-zag pattern in the middle of it's web?

Nice variety of orb weaver it looks like. Not harmful to you in the skightest and will help get rid of the pests you don't want flyong around

Nope...
looks like an Araneus bicentenarius. The top of the abdomen looks like it may have a little green on it. However many Neoscona and Araneus Orb Weavers look similar. The two shoulder humps are more indicative of genus Araneus. And at night that web will catch hundreds of skeeters and other pesky insects. Beautiful specimen.

It did not have a zig-zag pattern in its web. It was not very aggressive when touched with a stick.
