Not a GSP, but here's a GWP Drahthaar named Willie Nelson who I follow on Instagram. All brown which is pretty rare. Awesome dog

I have an all-liver GSP bitch with a star shaped white patch on her chest. She's actually *almost* black, but if you look close enough, it's just really, really dark brown.

The dog's a freakin handful. Tons of drive, natural, obesessive hunter. Tireless. Super sweet natured.

My father in law is a breeder. Most of his dogs are roan, but occasionally he gets the all-livers.

Just saw this on Instagram and thought I'd share... That black, or near black, looks damn good. I like the solid colored ones a lot

Just got my pup 2 weeks ago. This will be my first GSP. In the litter of 8 there were only 2 males and they were the only ones that were not majority liver colored.

That's a good Lookin' dog

I'm between lab, GSP, and boxer.
Looking to get mine with graduation money in the next few weeks

Thank ya

I was torn between a lab and GSP as well. Both are somewhat similar but i ultimately went with GSP mainly because of how smart they are suppose to be, shed a little less than the lab and wanted to get something different. All my buddies graduating are getting labs.

But you can't go wrong with any of those three options.

Yeah, kind of waiting to see how the job v law school situation plays out and if I'll have time to make a gun dog out of the situation or not.
I've got two buddies who just got labs and another who got a pointing Griffin, but not sure how/if* any of them will be looking to train under the gun.

My family has four dogs at home and the family favorite is a boxer. If I don't go gun dog due to time, I have no problem getting myself a solid companion dog (not that the other two cant be) and grab one of the sporting later down the road.

To save you some future heartache stick with the lab or GSP, boxers are great dogs but their health can cause you both financial and emotional stress.

Get a lab. GSP's can be too smart and if you get one smart enough hes got a good chance of being smarter than you

Did you get it from someone in Baton Rouge? I also got on two weeks ago and the litter only contained 2 males.

Not a good pic, but these 2 solid males are from the litter my ticked female had back in November, she had 3 ticked and 3 solid. We bred her with a solid liver male.

If I would have known about them before I got one, I would have chosen a solid liver one. A lot of people prefer the ticking or roan look, but IMO, the solid liver with the ticking on the chest looks sharp, definitely my favorite look on a GSP.
