So what are "mags" for 1911's?

I am trying to find out on the internet. The only thing I am concluding is it is larger magazines to carry more rounds, but the appearance does not look it.

I haven't seen too many (if any at all) magazines that carry additional rounds on the 1911 platform. Maybe 1 extra round.

Chip McCormick, Checkmate, and Wilson Combat all make 10 round mags for the 1911.
Pro Mag makes a 15 rounder but I wouldn't buy it because Pro Mag is complete crap.
I have a 10 round Checkmate mag in my 1911 in my avi. It doesn't stick out too far below the grip and feeds just fine.

Is this what you speak of? It's a Chip McCormick Power Mag. I have some and they are nice.

its a 45 acp 1911 why would you need more than the one in the chamber???

I have about 10 of those chip McCormick 10 round mags. They function perfectly.
