So my 17yo son wants to rid LA of Nutria for the $5 bounty

Other than buying the $25 trappers license to do so, is there anything else he should be considering?
I'm going to have to look up whatever area he and his accomplice plan on doing this to make sure he does not trespass.
some questions:
What to do with the carcasses once the tails been cut off? can they be left for the gators to eat?
tagging?
Minimum/maximum caliber allowed to kill?
Can you actually shoot them?
or do they have to be trapped first?
how often to turn tails in etc.?
should they contact private land owners and duck lease holders to see if they would like the pests gone too?
This is more of a marksman challenge, fun for him and his friend and maybe to make a small profit or at the very least pay for their adventures.
any help would be appreciated

It's all on the LDWF website. The answer to every question.

Lots of property owners will probably be happy to give permission for these varmints.

Tell him go ride to the Mississippi coast and start cutting tails. Apparently there are hundreds washing up on the beach due to TS Cindy. Can start off with a lot of money for ammo before he even starts shooting.

Yes you can.
"buried" or "left underneath vegetation" are two of the options when you turn in the tails, along with "brought to processor", "kept for consumption", and something else.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the news.

My uncle got some nutria sausage from a podnahhh and brought it to my aunts house for a Mardi Gras parade a few years ago. Told everyone it was deer until it was just about gone. No one ever complained until they found out it was rat. Even then, the rest of it was finished.

They have to make it simple. 75% of the guys in the program can't read.
