Because I did not have a self clearing permit filled out. Kinda gay but whatever guilty as charged.
Today I get a letter in the mail from the DA saying I can be entered into a pretrial diversion program and have the charges dropped if I pay $100 and stay compliant with LDWF regulations one year.
I was thinking this was going to be like a $20 fine. Anybody have any experience with this? Should I just pay the $100 or would I be better off talking to the judge?

I'd pay $200 just not to have to go to court and talk to the judge. Pay the fine and be done with it.

If it's the same as Dewey wills its over 300. I did the pre trial thing for 100 bucks. This was about ten years ago.

I would need to know why you were there and what it is you were doing when the agents approached.

you just confirmed that you were "guilty as charged" for not complying with the gay rules

What will your argument be, and how will you defend your actions (or lack thereof) in front of the judge ?

If I were in your shoes, I'd go in person and talk to the DA , confirm your options, and then pay the fine so charges will be dropped.

No different than a speeding ticket where you write a check to the DA's office, and it's changed to a non-moving violation and doesn't go on your record.

This further confirms that most laws on the books are nothing but scams to get money out of citizens.

But they give you a get out of jail free card if you pay them money.

I agree but I wish they would not change from one to another like this year at Richard Yancey WMA. I happened to read about it before but imagine it would be easy to get griped up. Heck, even after reading it I couldn't believe and made a call to verify what I was reading.

Can anyone here tell me what may have prompted this change? I was so glad we ended up being able to get a permit the day before cause I remember, as a kid, the long lines to get a permit before going in. Makes you have to get up much earlier.

Here’s a big heads up if you plan on hunting this deer season in Louisiana. A newly instituted “LDWF Rule” for the 2016-2017 season could catch many law-abiding hunters off guard and ruin your day of hunting. Here’s what’s going on.

If you are going to deer hunt on a Louisiana “Wildlife Management Area” this year, there is now a “mandatory check-in” on the day you plan to hunt.

I think you only get one "get of of jail free" card, aka pretrial. I wouldn't use it on a little ol ticket.

Thanks for the info baws. I think I will just pay the fine and be done.
My buddy that was with me got one too. He is going to court to fight it. I will update when he gets his verdict I guess.

That is a self-clearing permit. I have no problem with those. In fact I love those. I understood that the reason we went to self-clearing it was because of long lines/waits from the little buildings that you had to go to in person to get a permit.
