Thought I cleaned well enough but may have been too drunk. Wiped with oil after but I have a few small pin sized rusty spots inside pot. What's the best method of cleaning

If it doesn't wipe out just spot sand them and burn it again. In the future oil it before putting it away and drop a dry paper towel in it to absorb any moisture.

It should come off with just a sponge and water.

It's a 5 gallon pot can't fill with vinegar. So
Maybe scuff it of the sides and wipe it down then oil

Use mineral oil if you are going to use oil

sounds to me like it was still a little wet when you wiped it with oil. I wouldn't sweat over it at all...just wipe the shite out of it with an oily paper towel and go on about your business. the only thing that a minute amount of rust is gonna do is to put a very a little bit of extra iron in your food and that is not a problem at all.

Small spots are ok just wipe with a cloth and use it again. When cleaning a pot that big its important to warm the pot this makes the pot dry completely and the metal expand slightly for better oil penetration. If ya putting ya pot up for a few months then food grade mineral oil is definitely the way to go cause it dont go rancid on ya. When ya wash ya pot and just pass a rag in it then oil it this is what happens ya need to heat the pot to completely dry it.
