Can you shoot nutria from a moving boat? Like whatnot you could take a fan boat guide to kill those bastards.

That's what I thought, but marsh rats should be an exception

You can but it will be in violation of the law.

So can I kill them for the hell of it and leave them without any effort of retrieval? I think (hope) I can.

We've had a dog attacked by one in the last year

I believe so as they are considered a nuicence animal. However you do know that there is a $5 bounty on them? Google bounty on nutia's and there is a site dedicated to the bounty process.

Yes I did know about it. I think you have to have a trappers license, nutria hunting application and land lease to turn in first, and still then, you have to go to LDWF to turn them in which seems like a hassle

You're correct. I have a friend that has 700 acers south of Houma ad he has the trapping rights so he let's us go out there and shoot all the nutrias we want. He gets the tails and turns them in, we just do it for fun.

I had some guys in duck hunting from upstate New York several years ago. After a mighty fine duck hunt that morning they wanted to ride the farm and see the place. We started shooting nutria out of the canals/ditches and you would have thought these yankees had died and gone to heaven. The rest of the trip all they wanted to do is ride around, drink beer, listen to country music, and shoot varmits. Take nothing for granted boys! I thought everybody lived like this but I was obviously wrong.
