Thinking probably San Luis Pass.
Starting Sunday afternoon and going through the night.
Any tips, idears, or pointers?
ETA: geaux_lsu_tigah and I making the trip, but I don't mean wire haired griffons when I ask for pointers...

Go on 2coolfishing and look up the surf fishing forum. Should be tons of info on there.

We were out on Follets Island last Sunday and didn't have much luck in the surf. Wind and current were both pretty strong that day. However, we were unable to let the shark baits soak for too long, which could have been part of the problem along with the current. Make sure you have ample weights, the longshore currents were taking the bait down basically parallel with the beach and not anchoring anywhere near where the yakker was dropping it. We used both bonito and Atlantic sting ray.
The Pass can be pretty crazy as far as current is concerned.

61st street pier's Facebook page has shown quite a few shark catches over the last couple weeks may want to look there and see if they have any info about how they went about it.

That's a good spot but the current can get strong. Pretty sure every year a small handful of people get swept out to see from there and drown. I'm not normally a PFD nazi but I do think one is needed there.
Throw out some cut mullet on some kind of bottom rig and you should catch sharks with no problems.
