Anyone have any experience replacing a Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering cylinder? Thinking about tackling this job myself. I've watched a few videos on youtube and it doesn't look too complicated.
Or should I just take the boat to a mechanic, he's going to charge me about $200 in labor to replace it.

It isn't complicated. I've replaced steering before. But $200 is not a bad price on labor if you want it done correctly the first time.

Not hard if you have two people. Also get the fill cap for the helm. I have one, but live outside of New Roads. You are more then welcome to come and get it. They cost around $10. Also get some tygon tubing, 3/8" ID. That will save you money/oil too when you bleed the system.

It's not that big of deal to change. if you don't need the boat this weekend, I'd let somebody else to the job.

I don't need the boat this weekend. Also, the mechanic's price on the cylinder is about $200 more than I have found online. I have to bring the boat in for routine maintenance anyway and he wants to look at the steering problem, I'm going to ask if he will let me provide the steering parts and just charge me labor to install it. I don't think 200 in labor is that bad either.
