Reds are everywhere right now, however wouldn't go to the islands for them. All I fish is artificial unless the wife is coming. Fri-Monday we caught about 175 reds catch and release.

I guess thats why its called fishing, not spending a grand or so to get on a seaplane to fly out to barrier islands and catching.

Most do it for the experience, not necessarily the fish. Those prices are pretty much in line with fly n fish charters anywhere, factoring in fuel costs.

If it's the islands you are wanting to fish and not so much the experience keep in mind Breton and Gossier are about 12 mi from Venice and ANY guide down there can take you by boat and save $$$$

Yep, unless you want some unique destination or just want to fly, there are much more cost effective alternatives.

Did that once. Caught a handful of trout in 3 days fishing. The wind didnt help, but then again neither did the captain. He would just sort point from the boat and say "try over there". Not looking for anyone to bait my hook, but SOME guidance would have been helpful.

I have made lots of trips to the islands, by plane and boat, dating back to the 1980s. The schools of sharks are impressive...clear water, seagrass beds, etc. One of the finest natural areas in the state although the rate of erosion is shocking.

The 2 1/2 day trips are awesome. I would recommend going with Joka's Wild though out of Biloxi. I grew up with that family and they have been doing it a long time. Captain George designed and built the boat himself and its like a yacht. Cant beat the crew and Captain George either. LINK
