Been wanting one of these rifles for awhile and finally pulled the trigger the other day. Gun was discounted at the store I went to and FN is currently doing a promotion til the end of the year where if you buy the 17S, you get a free Geissele trigger ($325 value).

Plan on getting some nice glass to go along with it. Going to use it mainly for target shooting and hopefully shoot some hogs with it soon. Thinking I want a scope that zooms (maybe 2.5-10x). Looked at vortex, nightforce, leupolds, and some Acogs (which don't typically have the soom). Nightforces seems to be the best but are also very pricy.

Anyone have experience with these or something else in the 700-1200 range.

Also, while I haven't got to shoot it yet, damn this thing is light and still feels very solid.

Thanks in advance!

Three great brands.

I would also check out Trijicon's Accupoint scopes. I love that they seem to be the one brand that can seamlessly incorporate fiber optics into their optics. Their products are also bulletproof and high value.

The SCAR 17s is very hard on optics, it has been know to kill quite a few high end optics as well. Do a good bit a research before you buy.

I'd opt for an ELCAN.

I like the Leupold VXR just from experience.

I don't know what to tell you about optics, but congrats on the gun. I was going to (still might) get one for myself for Christmas and even posted a thread on here about them. I'm trying to decide between a scar and tavor.

The trigger deal might just make my decision for me. How do I go about taking advantage of that deal?

I've heard that as well, going to make sure I check that first.

Here is the LINK to the website promo that you fill out. Looks like it goes til December 31st.

Funny thing is I didn't even know about the promo until after I decided to make the purchase . A guy working at the store (who evidently also didn't know about he promo) had a customer's Scar that he had just installed the trigger on. It felt amazing but when we told me the price I had second thoughts. Needless to say I was pretty pumped when the girl who also worked there gave me the flyer for the promo.

I only have true experience with Leupold. But I've looked through some Trijicon glass and know some guys who absolutely love them.

Trijicon doesn't build crap so I doubt it matters what model you get. I'll just leave it at that.

Cant go wrong with Vortex. Their customer service is great. Check out their facebook page. They replace their optics for just about any type of damage that occurs to them.

Yeah I put one on my sons AR that he hunts with for better accuracy and it's made a big difference.

Shot the scar 17 one time and loved it. I have an ar 10 as well so idk why I'd need a scar but I just want one.

Liking the looks of the Vortex Razor LINK

A little pricey, but has pretty much full 5 star reviews everywhere I look. Also like the versatility of it being 1-6X.

I think a USO 1.8-10 would be perfect on a scar17.

The vortex pieces recommended are awesome as well.

They do have a reputation of eating optics so make sure you get one with a good warranty.

If I were shooting 308, I would maximize its distance potential and get something higher power. But that's just me.

I don't have personal experience with Vortex either but people seem to be fond of them as well. The 5 star reviews are proof of that.

Ive shot my buddy's m14 with a vortex 4-10x on it. That thing was a tack driver. Very clear optic with little to no distortion when you magnified.

I've got the original Bushnell HDMR, which is very similar. They have only improved the line. I have one of the HDMR and one of their 1-6.5x scopes. They are a great value for the money. The adjustments are accurate and they are built like tanks. Because they are built like tanks, they are pretty heavy scopes. Not sure if that matter as the scar isnt a light gun. The G2 reticle is great if you learn to use it. It isn't all cluttered up like some of the hours reticles.

After looking more into it, I realized how heavy that scope is.

Actually the Scar 17 weighs about 8 pounds which is pretty light for a .308 rifle.

Looking into the Nightforce 2.5-10x32mm NXS now
