I have been looking for them the past month. Hopefully the ones near me show up soon.

Haven't seen any yet, but I counted 5 eagles between Pierre Part and Morgan City on LA 70 last week.

Both the MS Kite and Swallow tail kites are by far some of my favorite birds to see in our area. I have yet to see one this year....

Do you report your sightings to thecenterforbirdsofprey.org? They're logging sightings to determine the Swallow Tailed Kite's range.

I don't know squat about these birds or that organization. I googled to see pics and their website was towards the top of the page. Beautiful birds. Hope I see some around the Tchefuncte.

The only time I've ever seen one was on a golf course near Boute.

Cool. Just curious.

I've got Ospreys out the arse, and the occasional Bald Eagle around my place, but I've never seen (or noticed, although I think I would) a Swallow Tail Kite. They're fairly rare, I assume?

I've seen them every year for as long as I can remember, but I never see many. Probably about 10 or so sightings each year. Mostly around Morgan City or Pierre Part.

there is also a lady with the state that collects data. Her info should be in the other thread.

Ours have not arrived yet. The area where my office is happens to be a favorite of a few.

A couple of years ago I saw about 15-20 feeding right next to Hollywood Casino. Looked like a bunch of overgrown sparrows until you got close.
