Buddy just bought one. Reviews are great. Price difference btw the Ruger and S&W Sport was nominal when he bought it a couple weeks ago.

Waiting for it to ship to the FFL. If I remember I'll provide an update.

I've been checking on this one for about a week or so, weighing the differences with the S&W M&P Sport and I'm convinced this will be my first AR.

Ruger AR 556

I think it's going to be my first one as well.

I like that it comes with forward assist and dust cover.

The AR556 and the M&P15 Sport are two of the best entry ARs on the market.

Main differences:

1. Forward assist and dust cover (M&P Sport has neither)
2. Trigger (M&P's will be better)
3. Twist rate (Ruger has a 1:8 twist, which is rare on an entry AR)
4. Front sight block (Ruger's is machined, M&P's is not)
5. Grip and stock (essentially the same but slight differences)
6. Flash hider (Ruger's looks like the one on the Mini 14)
