They spent something like $50k on god knows what. Riles. Coolers. Cameras. They bought boats they can not afford to even operate.

.5% of 10,000,000 is missing oh shite!

I can tell you their thought process is that it's a bigger pain in the arse to find somewhere to store all that crap after the grant is over than just let someone borrow it and self-store it.

The boats operated on the BP money to accomplish the goal of the BP money. They can sell them now and double dip.

This thread reminds me of my step-dad's, two 5000w portable generators that he has in the garage. The publicly funded company (ahem) bought new ones and told him to get rid of the old ones (they were 3 years old at the time). So, he got rid of them . . . and there were a lot more than just those two that the employees "got rid of."

My point is, what was he supposed to do, throw them in the trash (which is what he was told to do, BTW)? If BP money is there for the taking, I'm with pointdog33. Take what they give, sell it later and use the profit for something else.

Are you trying to tell me that BP ordered WLF to buy that big metal shark center console? Get the frick out of here with that nonsense.

I'm telling you exactly that. Its my understanding the BP pretty much gifted those boats to the departament. It wasn't like LDWF had an option to put the money into something else.
I agree with you that state agencies should be responsible, but I don't have an issue with what happened here.
