I fish in the Biloxi Marsh fairly often and would like to purchase a rifle to shoot nutria while I'm out there. I've never owned a rifle before but some have suggested a 22 caliber rifle and some has said a high powered pellet rifle-
any opinions would be appreciated

thanks

I don't like shooting over water with anything besides a shotgun.

But a .22 mp15-22 with a red dot is an a rmadillo and nutria killing machine.

.22 or .17 for more accuracy but more expensive bullets.

This sounds fun. I inquired about this a while back and it turns out you have to be on owned property and have some type of agreement with LDWF for the tails.

It might be illegal but I hope you hit every one you see

What range? Definitely a shotgun if close enough.

I believe that's if you are trying to turn in for the $5 tails. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting a hard time for shooting nutria. I mean hell jpso goes every Wednesday night and shoots hundreds in the canals and leaves them

Get a .22. You'll have something cheap to plink with and nice to hand down in years from now.

Pond possum. Good eating. How y'all say it? First you get some rice or reaux going?
