I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death on this board, but I'm buying the OB's favorite rifle (Tikka T3) .308 caliber. I'm looking for scope recommendations and don't want to spend more crazy money on the scope wasthinking in the 500-700 dollar range on the scope. What do y'all recommend

What is important. Whiz-bang features or optical performance?

The simpler the better. Optical performance is most important to me. I probably wont attempt and shots over 300 yards.

nikon has a spot on app where you select rifle/bullet/scope/ etc and tells you what your target shot needs to be, has a chart for your BDC recticle of yardages at various magnifications. Pretty cool.

I have a prostaff, but was shooting a rifle that had a Zeiss scope over the weekend. I want one now.

I hate the eye relief on Zeiss at least on their lower end Conquest models.

Would love a Zeiss, but I've got a budget of around 1200-1300 for everything so a Zeiss is out of the question.

The Zeiss HD5s have been going on sale recently. I know Cabelas has some models discounted deeply, but I can't access it from work.

Meopta Meopro. Magnification is totally up to you but 12x would be plenty.

On 12x a target at 300 yards would seem 25 yards away with the naked eye.

15% off Meopta Rifle Scopes this week.

I put a Vortex Diamondback 4-16x42 on that exact gun and it is a great match. One thing that is great about Vortex is that they will replace your scope no questions asked if it is damaged or defective, your fault or not.
