You might not even be able to reach the water from the docks.

I think they drained it not long ago to try and grow vegetation...

Like, one month ago

ast year, a 16 acre island built from silt was removed and the work took contractors 10 months to complete. More than $3 million in state money has been secured for improving the river. In 2014, the water was reduced by three feet. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is now recommending to temporarily lower the water to six feet. "What this would do, the draw down is expose a lot of the lake bottom, let it have time to harden. Hopefully some vegetation will and it will be great for the fishing habitat," Olinde said. If the draw down is approved the water level would be lowered from Labor Day until the second week of January. It would then be restored to its current level of 16 feet. The water will be lowered by the opening of gates at the out-fall channel and will take two months to be lowered to six feet. "This is a gold mine for Pointe Coupee Parish. We want this lake in the best shape we can ultimately put as human beings," Olinde said.

I stayed on false river for the bama/LSU game. If you jump off the end of the dock you're landing in mud.

If you're staying in ventress it may be the same house

I didn't see many others for rent in that area

We stayed there for the bama/lsu game and the water was way off from the end of our pier. You could see sand in the middle of the river.

Nope. That one looks nice though. It's an awesome area. I would ask the owner about the water prior to cancelling. Some areas were higher than others, but as of a 3 weeks ago ventress wasn't fishable

I live about a mile from False River. I don't think there's a single pier with water still under it. Both flats look like a beach. I wouldn't recommend going there if fishing was your top priority.
