Anybody try rattlin bucks up? I have grunted one up, (actually the biggest I ever killed) but after reading today on rattlin, I am gonna give it a try. It seems to work if you stick to it. Comments?

Killed one of my biggest bucks doing it, but you need a place with a good buck to doe ratio for it to be worthwhile and not so much on public with a bunch of barneys that are gonna be looking to pop a cap on the first movement they see. It's kinda split second as a lot of bucks will come in on a dead run so you need to be ready.

We have a small place in Ms, (100 acres), just thought I'd try to call some I have on camera that appear to be nocturnal.

I'm going to try it in Ms this year. We have pics of bucks getting after it big time this past week. I will wait until closer to rut though.

From what I read, now is the time, when bucks are sparring. I'm trying it this week. Good luck.

Hmm I might have to try it soon then. Do you use a bag or the horns?

Never really tried it, but I'm convinced the biggest deer I saw but didn't kill heard me going up a tree, amd mistook me for a deer fight. He walked to 12 yards, but my panicked arse didn't get a shot. Killed a doe about 30 min later though.

I'm currently in Kentucky deer hunting and the rut is on. We rattled up several bucks yesterday, just no shooters yet. I had five bucks in a corn field yesterday evening and rattled a few times just screwing around. They all looked up and moved some when I hit the sheds I was using. It was my first real time doing it and had a blast.

I had a small buck 200 yds out yesterday morning and didn't realize it until I hit the sheds. He bolted towards me with great vengeance when I did and presented me a 50 yard shot within 15 seconds. My Dad rattled up a borderline 8pt and now wishes he would've shot. I will report back later today on how it works in the snow. We got 6" overnight.

That sounds like a pretty awesome day hunting with the old man... Take your binocs to the stand with you today for sure... You can see those deer up to half a mile away in that snow with reliable optics.

I'm gonna use whatever I can get my hands on, probably man made horns. I watched some You Tube vids yesterday while it rained and it doesn't seem to difficult. Hell, we call ducks and turkeys, why not deer?

It's not hard, you just have to have the right conditions for it to be effective. It is a blast when it all comes together though.
