I have vegetable garden at my house and I have had issues with birds or who knows what eat my crops. Does the little fake owl with the swivel head work to deter pest or do I need to periodically move it? Also, deer have come into my yard and snagged some fruit off the trees. In years past I have put out fake snakes and just lived with the minimal damage. The garden is bigger this year so I don't want to lose more. Curious to how y'all keep your crops safe. Any tips will be great. Thanks

Scarecrow, and tin pie pans for the birds. Go to a barbershop/salon and ask them if will bag up the hair when they sweep up. Usually they will and I'll tip them a few bucks for it. Just spread the hair around the garden. Not sure if it is true or not, but my grampa swore by it, and I do it. Said it was the smell of humans in the hair that keeps them away.
I don't seem to have problems with anything other than bugs eating on my garden, but that is an entirely different issue. Also have heard mothballs in a coffee can will have the same effect.

The owl will help, but you have to move it everyday. The tin pans will help as well. I saw a youtube video where a guy says that birds eat tomatoes because they are thirsty. He said to rig a tuna can or something similar to your tomato stakes and fill with water. He said the birds will drink from that and leave your tomatoes alone.

Heard the pie tin trick. Also heard of putting plastic forks sticking out the ground to keep rabbits away. The hair trick sounds like it would work. I've heard of people mixing deodorant with water and spraying it on plants. Thanks for the tips.

I hope I don't have to move it as much because it's head swivels if there a breeze. My grandpa had a owl that didn't move like that and birds didn't care even though he moved it. That's interesting about the birds being thirsty. They freaking love to eat my tomatoes and peppers. They shouldn't be thirsty because I have a bird bath not 30ft from it haha. Thanks for the tip.
