Question about the timely (or untimely) freezing of fish...

So, we caught our limit of Red Snapper recently...The captain filleted our fish and put them in ziplock bags. At home, we put water in the bags and put all the fish in the freezer. However, the freezer had an issue and was only cooling to about 28 degrees (freezers are typically zero degrees). The fish stayed semi-frozen until two days later, when we got a working freezer to fully freeze the fish.
Is this fish still good or should we toss it?

Not a problem. Put it back in the freezer

As long as it stayed cool you should be good.
Don't ban me if you come down with the squirts though...

Definitely toss it. I know a good place to dispose of it without stinking. I'll come by and take them off your hands for you.

As long as they didn't get hot you should be fine. Enjoy

You're good to go.
A general rule is to not allow fish (and other meats really) to sit between 40-140 degrees for more than 4 hours.

still good. i keep mine in bags on ice for several days before freezing.
if in doubt, smell them. Spoiled fish typically smells bad.

I'll pass on some advice that was given to me when discussing if fish was still good enough to eat or not.....
....you cannot eat bad fish without knowing it.
That being said, it may be bad after thawing it out if you re-freeze it but I would no way throw it out unless the fish is "telling you" that it is bad.

Was gonna volunteer to do the same...Just as a favor for providing such an entertaining service here.
I wonder if we know of the same "disposal" spots.
