Question About Buying a New 4-Wheeler Tire

If I have 22x10-9 tires on the back of my bike (Honda Recon 250) will 22x11-9 fit those same rims? I was under the impression that the tire width needed to match the rim width, but from what I've gathered from reading online, different width tires can fit on the same rims. Please school me on this issue. Hopefully 22x11-9 will fit because I just ordered some
